Restaurant Review: Milwaukee Ale House

This restaurant needs very little introduction in the brew city. Whether people are looking for live music, great beer, or great food, The Milwaukee Ale House has it all.

Let’s start with the star of the show, the drinks. The beer list is constantly evolving, but there are a number of staples such as Louie’s Demise or Pull Chain Ale, Solomon Juneau, or Flaming Damsel. The beer is so popular at this place that frequent visitors can join a mug club. The Ale House offers a great happy hour special throughout the week so many of these beers can be enjoyed for a very reasonable cost. The stand by’s are great, but the Ale House always has a Seasonal beer on tap. It is safe to say that this place truly does have a beer for everyone (that wants one!).

The food menu is diverse and of high quality. Patrons will find anything from pizza’s to burgers to steak. A large dining room is located on the west side of the building. It offers a comfortable atmosphere and a great view over the outdoor deck of the Milwaukee river. During the summer months, dining on the deck is incredible popular. This might be the best outdoor dining in the city.

As far as price is concerned, this place runs right down the middle. The burgers will cost between $8-$12 bucks with entrees pushing $25 on the high end. The food is of a higher quality than what is typically thought of as bar food. It is clear that the ownership group has made the dining experience a high priority and it shows in the quality of food and the service at the Ale House.

Finally, on almost every weekend the Milwaukee Ale House will host a local band and the music will play through the early morning hours. In fact, there is entertainment almost every night of the week and most of it is free (there is the occasional $5 cover). The Milwaukee Ale House has become a popular spot in the Milwaukee nightlife scene and for good reason. We highly recommend stopping by this restaurant located in the Historic Third Ward just off of Water Street.
